JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – More than 1,000 students went to the Prime F. Osborn Center III Saturday morning to explore higher education opportunities at the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) National College Fair.

This event gave middle and high school students the opportunity to learn about colleges and universities and participate in informative workshops to help them and their families make the best decision for their future education.

“This is very beneficial, because to see everything in one place so you can evaluate scholarships and evaluate school, evaluate location, because that plays a big part in it too out of state and in state, it’s a blessing to have everything in one place so you can kind of start narrowing down what you want to do for your children,” Melissa McGriff, mother of two sophomore students, said.

More than 120 colleges and universities were at the event, including Edward Waters University, Jacksonville University, University of North Florida, University of Florida and Florida State College at Jacksonville.

Shane Canter, who’s in eighth grade at Twin Lakes Academy, was among the attendees.

“It’s a very good experience, definitely an eye-opener,” Canter said. “Very good information to take in.”
