JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – U.S. District Attorney has sentenced a 40-year-old man to 10 years for attempting to lure a 13-year-old into engaging in sex.

According to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), an agent posed as an underage child seeking to track down individuals who were meeting children in person for sexual activities.

The undercover agent, acting as the child, began an online conversation on social media with a man, who was later identified as Michael Buck Brockway.

During that time, according to NCIS, Brockway engaged multiple times in sexually explicit conversations through social media and text messaging.

Brockway confirmed the “child” was 13 years of age and asked about sexual experiences and to meet in person.

Brockway solicited the child, who was the agent, asking if she was alone for the next few days, NCIS said. The child gave the address of the apartment complex in Jacksonville.

Brockway sent an explicit video of himself he produced while we was on duty onboard the U.S. Navy docked at the Naval Station Mayport.

The following day, Brockway drove over to a nearby restaurant where he agreed to meet the child. After he exited his car, he met with the child and was immediately arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in 2023.

During his search, JSO and NCIS found three condoms, a cell phone, a container of lubricant and an unopened bottle of vodka with a sex toy. A search of Brockway’s cell phone revealed numerous photos and videos that depicted children being sexually abused.

Brockway was also ordered to serve a 10-year term of supervision and to pay $48,000 in restitution to child victims, and register as a sex offender.
