Northeast Florida school districts make plans to reopen after Hurricane Milton

Hurricane Milton has passed leaving a trail of damage across Florida. Many Northeast Florida schools and organizations are analyzing their properties and preparing to open doors for students to return to their classrooms.

School Openings

Nassau County

The Nassau County School District will reopen schools on Friday, Oct. 11.

Duval County

Monday, Oct. 14 is a scheduled teacher’s planning day. The district said the earliest students would return would be Tuesday, Oct. 15.

  • The Bolles School will reopen on Friday, Oct. 11.

Flagler County

Students will return to school on Monday, Oct. 14. All extracurricular activities remain canceled through Friday, Oct. 11.

Clay County

Schools in Clay County will reopen on Friday, Oct. 11.

St. Johns County

The school district will have a planning day on Monday, Oct. 14 for teachers and staff as it is a student holiday. Students will go back to school on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

According to the district, this has been on the school calendar and is not a change or adjustment made due to Hurricane Milton.

Putnam County

Putnam County schools will reopen on Tuesday, Oct. 15

Alachua County

Schools will reopen on Friday, Oct. 11. Archer Elementary is experiencing a power outage but the district expects it to be restored late Thursday. If anything changes, parents will be notified.

Bradford County

On Friday, Oct. 11, there is no school for students because it is a teacher planning day. Students will still be out for fall break from Monday, Oct. 14 to Tuesday, Oct. 15. Students return to class on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
