Officials said for debris to be collected, piles must be separated and placed along the roadside.

Piles should be:

  • Vegetation: leaves, branches, and trees in a compact pile
  • Bulk Items: bagged household trash, drywall, furniture, carpeting, cabinetry, etc.
  • Large Appliances: refrigerator, freezer, stove, washer/dryer, water heater, etc.

Residents were asked to avoid blocking ditches and swales to prevent additional flooding and support stormwater drainage. Plus, residents should avoid placing debris near or under any obstruction like overhead wires, mailboxes, utility pedestals, cars, etc.

All storm-related debris should be placed out by the beginning of next week.

Officials said the city will make one pass through the entire City for storm debris. This one pass may take up to three or more weeks to complete.

“Please understand that not all debris will be picked up in one day; the City will be running all regular solid waste service routes as usual and also picking up storm debris.  As the department is only 3 employees, the need to utilize the contracted debris hauler is being evaluated daily,” officials wrote.

For specific questions about debris pickup please call the Solid Waste Department at 386-437-7411.

Flagler County residents can report any damage from Hurricane Milton by filling out a damage report on this website.
