Former 14-year veteran FHP trooper serving sentence for armed robbery facing additional 10 years on illegal gun charges

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 47-year-old former Florida Highway Patrol trooper who is serving time for a string of pharmacy robberies was found guilty of possession of illegal firearms, according to the Federal Bureau Investigations (FBI).

The FBI was investigating Jesse Moore due to a string of pharmacy robberies that occurred in 2021.

The FBI searched his home in Gilchrist County for the related robberies, and law enforcement found numerous firearms, boxes of ammunition, and firearms accessories.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) identified three of the weapons as a short-barreled rifle (barrels less than 16 inches), of which Moore did not register through the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.

Moore is currently serving 21 years for related pharmacy robberies and faces up to 10 additional years in prison if found guilty of possession of illegal firearms, along with 3 years of probation and a $10,000 fine.

Moore worked with the FHP for 14 years.
