UNF will also serve as hosts with Edward Waters University for the 2027 NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Championship and the 2028 NCAA Division II Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

It will be the first time that Jacksonville will host three different championships in a two-year period and the first time it will host these Division II tournaments.

EWU officials said its recent transition to Division II status allowed Jacksonville to bid for the national championships with UNF.

“This is a monumental moment for Edward Waters University and the city of Jacksonville,” Dr. A. Zachary Faison, Jr., President and CEO of Edward Waters University said. “Being selected to host these NCAA Division II Championships reflects our institution’s growth and commitment to athletic excellence. As the first HBCU in Florida to transition to NCAA Division II, we are proud to showcase our capabilities on a national platform."

The 2027 NCAA Division I Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field First Round will be the ninth time in the past 16 years that UNF will have hosted the East First Round competition.

“The NCAA has entrusted UNF and the city of Jacksonville to host two national championships for the first time that will further highlight our city, our campus, and our facilities,” Director of Athletics, Nick Morrow said. “Since turning Division I, we have only continued to increase the amount of events and championships we have hosted and we intend to only grow our overall impact from here.”
