The procession started at the Duval County Medical Examiner’s Office and traveled through neighborhoods to the Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Riverside.
McNew worked for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office for 24 years.
Investigators say he was off duty on Saturday when he intervened in an argument that turned physical at a Love’s gas station on Duval Road.
McNew saw a woman being assaulted and tried to help.
That’s when things escalated.
Surveillance video from the gas station shows the moments before McNew was shot and killed.
Investigators say a 29-year-old man named Demaurea Grant shot him.
Grant was arrested Sunday in North Carolina after a more than 24-hour manhunt.

JSO says Grant is a convicted felon with a violent criminal history.
He faces several charges, including murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and additional charges.
Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters about said he’s glad the manhunt didn’t last longer.
“As a leader of this agency, I’m grateful for the quick arrest of a man who tragically took the life of a member of the JSO family,” Waters said.
McNew’s family, friends and colleagues are making sure his legacy lives on.
A GoFundMe was created to support the McNew family.
