Tell Us: FTC’s new rules should make ending subscriptions less of a hurdle. Have you had issues canceling memberships?

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Federal Trade Commission this week released a final rule called “Click to Cancel,” which says online subscriptions should require the same amount of clicks to end as they do to sign up, and in-person signups should have the option to cancel online or over the phone.

Federal regulators say they receive around 70 complaints a day from consumers who have to jump through endless hoops just to cancel a subscription.

For instance, it’s reported health clubs demand membership cancellations by certified mail or in person. Cable subscriptions are accused of requiring lengthy calls to customer service, where representatives aggressively dissuade from cancellation or put the customer on long holds.

The new U.S. rule will require retailers, gyms and other businesses to make canceling subscriptions as easy as enrolling in them and make the subscription process more transparent.

So, we want to know, have you had an issue canceling memberships or subscriptions? Fill out the form below to tell us about it.
