JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It’s not a rare sight to spot a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officer riding along the street on top of a trusty steed. Usually, they patrol events like concerts or fairs, but occasionally, you can catch them randomly trotting around the city.
In a video Friday, JSO shared an arrest that was made while an officer was on patrol with his mounted partner, Ace.

Sgt. Ben Rhoden arrested a man who JSO said stole items from a gas station in Riverside.
The video shows Rhoden and Ace walking up to the man outside a GATE gas station. Rhoden attempted to handcuff the man, who seemed calm in the video.
“Step up to the horse for me. Put your hands right here,” Rhoden instructed.
An off-duty corrections officer saw the arrest in progress and offered to assist Rhoden in the most handy way. The corrections officer tended to Ace after Rhoden hopped off the horse to finish the arrest.
So, the video goes to show that whether an officer is in a cruiser or on a horse, you can still get caught if you’re doing wrong.
