JSO says woman, baby found safe after investigating reports of ‘suspicious incident’

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a woman and a baby have been identified and located safe following a reported “suspicious incident” on Baymeadows Road near Philips Highway Sunday morning.

According to JSO, witnesses saw the woman enter a business holding a child and asked employees to call 911.

Shortly after, a man pulled into the parking lot in a dark-colored crossover-type SUV. Then, he entered the business, grabbed the woman and child and escorted them to the backseat of the SUV, according to police.

The man then drove away with the woman and child in an unknown direction, police said.

Due to the circumstances involved, police requested the community’s help to gather more information to ensure the safety of those involved.

JSO announced the woman and baby were found safe around 1 p.m. Sunday.
