Police said the woman crossed oncoming lanes and hit a concrete utility pole. It is unknown what caused her to veer.

Emergency officials arrived and provided life-saving measures, but the woman had to be taken to the hospital, where she died.

This is the 122nd traffic fatality in Duval County this year.

Old Middleburg Road is closed at 103rd Street.

Drivers are urged to take California or Brannon avenues as alternate routes as a JEA crew works to repair the broken utility pole that was leaning over the roadway.

Police estimate it can take up to two hours to finish the repairs.
