Jaguars players' wives, significant others held a flag football game to raise money for cancer charities

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – At the close of Jaguars training camp, Kaitlyn Allen launched the Gridiron Gals Flag Football Game, a private event for players' wives and significant others.

The game was held on August 25 at the Miller Electric Center practice field, the game wasn’t just for fun—it raised vital funds for local cancer charities.

Inspired by her close friend Maura Shuey’s battle with triple-negative breast cancer, Kaitlyn rallied the Gals to support a cause bigger than football.

Diagnosed in February, Maura‘s early detection led to her remission, and she now advocates for proactive cancer screenings. Her openness already saved her high school friend’s life. She was moved by Maura’s story and discovered her own breast cancer in its early stages.

The Gals chose to split the funds between two nonprofits: In the Pink, a boutique serving cancer patients, and Pink Ribbon Jax, which provides free mammograms. Maura, now the featured speaker at the Pink Ribbon Soiree, selected these causes.

With plans to make the Gridiron Gals Flag Football Game an annual tradition, Kaitlyn and the Gals remain committed to their ongoing connection with local charities and using their platform to create change year after year.
