JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A local nonprofit organization is determined to spread the cheer this holiday season to those who often go unnoticed.

Helping Jacksonville’s Youth (HJY) announced it is accepting applications through Dec. 1, 2024, to help middle-income families provide their children with toys this holiday season.

“At Helping Jacksonville’s Youth, we believe that every child deserves a chance to experience the magic of the holidays,” said Jacqueline Cason, Senior Coordinator.

A shopping survey conducted in 2023 by WalletHub found that 34% of respondents chose to skip gifts that year to pay their bills.

Middle-income families contribute significantly to the economy but end up living paycheck-to-paycheck. The sad reality about what is supposed to be a joyous holiday is that this demographic of families will most likely be unable to afford gifts or special seasonal events this year.

There are many ways people can help the HJY including volunteering, supporting events, spreading the word, or choosing a new feature on their website by donating virtually.

Families can apply for holiday assistance by clicking the Toy Request Tab on the HJY website or call (904) 383-5818.
