MIAMI, Fla. – Farm Share, the third largest food bank in the U.S. and the leading non-profit in Florida received a charity check of $190,000 from Publix Super Markets Charities to continue providing Floridians with fresh and healthy foods.
The donation assisted with purchasing a new refrigerated truck, making it possible to deliver fresh, nutritious meals to homebound individuals for seniors and people with disabilities, as well as areas that are hard to reach with standard delivery vehicles.

This assistance highlights the importance of expanding food access for Floridians in need, especially after Florida was hit by two major hurricanes, Helene and Milton.
“For decades, Publix Super Markets Charities has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to ensuring that Florida families have access to wholesome, healthy foods,” said Stephen Shelley, CEO of Farm Share. “With this tremendous donation, we can broaden our outreach to even more vulnerable communities, bringing fresh food directly to those who need it most. We‘re so grateful for Publix Super Markets Charities’ continued partnership in fighting hunger across our state.”
Farm Share, established in 1991 in Homestead, started with the innovative concept of retrieving unused food and redistributing it to those in need. As the company grew, its expansion did, too, and now it serves the entire state of Florida as a homegrown food bank.
Farm Share is the largest independent food bank in the state and the third largest in the nation. Wall Street named it America’s No. 1 Foodbank.
According to Food Share, “We focus on fighting food insecurity in Florida while reducing food waste from local farms. The Farm Share team redistributes fresh fruits and vegetables from Florida farmers to benefit neighborhoods and communities in need throughout all 67 counties in Florida.”
