JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was hit and killed Friday night while trying to cross New Berlin Road.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a man in his mid-30s darted out to cross New Berlin Road around 8 p.m. when an SUV that was driving east hit him.

The man died on the scene.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with JSO.
JSO said there were no signs that the driver was impaired.
This makes the 127th traffic fatality in Duval County and the 35th crash involving a pedestrian.
