Man found dead with head injury near Woodstock neighborhood, police say.

JSO said it received reports of an unresponsive person in the area early Sunday morning.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man discovered with a head injury Sunday morning in Jacksonville’s Woodstock neighborhood.

According to JSO, the man was found on Columbus Avenue near Melson Avenue after officers responded to a report of an unresponsive person around 3:20 a.m.

Officers found the man, who police said was in his 50s, with an apparent head injury. He was identified as a neighborhood local known to be homeless.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department personnel arrived shortly after and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The cause of death is currently unknown. The Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to help determine the circumstances. JSO is treating the case as an undetermined death pending further investigation.
