GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. – On Saturday, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said voters in the state exceeded 4 million submitted ballots, a number he qualified as the state’s “most successful early voting period” in Georgia’s history.

Three days later, the large turnout experienced during early voting seemed to have a large impact on Election Day wait times, especially in areas like Glynn County.

Most voters who News4JAX spoke with said it took a few minutes to vote today at several locations in Brunswick.

Fleming Roberts, an Election Day voter, explained why he believes participating in the process was important.

“You need some new ideas, you need to flip to the page,” Roberts said. “Old toys get old sometimes, and sometimes you need to throw [them] out and get new blood.”

Alexander Rosario also voted on Election Day, saying he wanted to make sure “the right parties” ended up in office.

“I know both parties want to do well, but I just want to choose who I think is the best for our communities,” Rosario said.

According to Georgia’s election data hub, around 55% of 7.2 million active voters submitted a ballot in this election.

About 72% of the electorate showed up in Glynn County for this election, which is good news for officials.
