It’s the fourth year that the top female surfing contest is back in Jax Beach.

Round one started off the three-day event on Friday, but the weekend isn’t just about the surfing.

Several free events will take place around the beach.

Starting at noon on Saturday, the music festival will begin with the day headlined by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, who take the stage at 8:30 p.m.

And the music will close out on Sunday with CeeLo Green.

That will be at Seawalk Pavilion.

And there are other sports hitting the sand.

Surfing started on Friday. At 9 a.m. on Saturday, women’s flag football and beach volleyball will compete with lacrosse and beach soccer starting later in the morning.

“This is all about empowering women and uplifting them in a variety of industries,” event producer Rick Bratman said. “It’s all free and down at Jax Beach.”

On Saturday, the second round of the World Surf League WQS 3000 women’s event began. It offers valuable points for surfers to qualify for the Women’s Championship Tour in 2025.

Round three of WSL surfing begins at 1:20 p.m. Saturday.

They will all be back on the beach on Sunday as things get closed out by the women’s surfing finals.
