Flagler County residents impacted from Hurricanes Milton, Helene may be eligible for disaster SNAP benefits

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Flagler County residents who suffered losses from Hurricane Milton or Helene may be eligible for disaster SNAP benefits and must pre-register by Nov. 15.

The program is offered through the Florida Department of Children and Families. Current SNAP recipients are not eligible for D-SNAP.

To qualify for D-SNAP:

  • Applicants must not be receiving regular SNAP benefits
  • Applicants must have been living in a disaster-declared county at the time of Hurricane Milton
  • Applicants must have suffered a disaster-related loss such as:
    • Damage to their home(s) or self-employment property
    • Loss of food
    • Reduction or loss of income
    • Other disaster-related expenses

Benefits available through D-SNAP

  • Eligible recipients who participate in the telephonic D-SNAP event will receive an EBT card that can be used at authorized food retailers.

Pre-registration is only available for residents who were impacted by Hurricane Helene or Hurricane Milton and live in counties designated, like Flagler County:

  • Verification is required for certain elements of the application.
  • Eligibility can be determined more quickly and easily if a state driver’s license or identification number and a Social Security number are provided.
