NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. – Hundreds of individuals head to Pete’s Bar on Thanksgiving each year to partake in “Petesgiving,” an annual Thanksgiving celebration.
Families all over Northeast Florida skip the formal Thanksgiving at-home gathering to dress up, play games, and enjoy comradery with their community.

Although it may be unconventional, the annual Thanksgiving party has become a tradition for more and more people each year.
“It used to be contained into Pete’s here and it just kind of grew from there, kind of like a cult following,” one partygoer told News4JAX at a past Petesgiving. “It’s local. It’s the thing that you do here in the area. I mean, everybody lives in the area and (they’re) here having a good time. And we’re here, doing just that.”
The “cult following” attracts people of all ages, whether they’re looking for an escape from the family or a way to spend more time with them.
