Woman sentenced to 35 years in prison after deadly shooting in Jacksonville Beach

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – A woman was sentenced to 35 years in prison after a fatal shooting at Jacksonville Beach on Sept. 24, 2023.

A person was found dead near First Street and Fourth Avenue North after Jacksonville Beach Police responded to a reported shooting.

Detectives identified Akiyah D. Price as the shooter and arrested her at her home the day after the shooting and charged her with 2nd-degree murder.

On Sept. 24, 2024, Price pled guilty to 2nd-degree murder with a sentence of 10 to 40 years.

On Nov. 15, 2024, Price was sentenced to 35 years in prison followed by five years of probation and community-controlled supervision.
