JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A group of Pro-Palestinian supporters gathered at the St. Johns Town Center Saturday afternoon, calling on Jacksonville Port Authority to end its contract with global shipping company Maersk.
The supporters, part of the Jacksonville Palestine Solidarity Network and other groups like Jacksonville Community Action Committee, allege Maersk, a global shipping company, has supplied weapons to Israel and aided in what they described as a genocide in North Gaza and Lebanon.

The rally, nicknamed the “Mask of Maersk” campaign, drew dozens of attendees who held signs with messages like “We want genocide out of JAXPORT.”
The protesters believe Maersk is being contracted by other companies to send shipments to Israel with weapons inside that end up killing people.
JAXPORT welcomed the shipping container company to the area in 2015.
News4JAX was not able to find a list of items Maersk has sent to Israel on the company’s website, but according to this article on their site, they do send shipments “to and from Israel” and “are accommodated within our Mediterranean network”
Supporters said they want this to change, so they’ve already started making demands to JAXPORT and will continue to do so until their request is fulfilled.
“So number one we would like the Jacksonville Port Authority to end its relationship with Maersk, for as long as Maersk is transferring weapons to Israel,” Ryan Delaney said.
