Man accused of murder in shooting death of his 69-year-old father in Deercreek area held without bond

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 27-year-old man accused of the murder of his father, who was found shot to death inside his Deercreek area home Wednesday, appeared in court Thursday morning and was ordered held without bond.

On Wednesday night, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Garry Charles Bartlett Jr., 27, and the victim as Garry Charles Bartlett Sr., 69.

According to JSO, officers were called to a home on Fawn Lake Drive South after 8 a.m. Wednesday, in response to a person who had been shot.

When police arrived, they found Bartlett Sr. shot to death inside the home. JSO said he had multiple gunshot wounds.

After reviewing all available evidence, detectives identified Barlett Jr. as the suspect in this murder. He was then arrested and booked into the John E. Goode Pretrial Detention Facility, police said.

If convicted, Bartlett Jr. could be facing life in prison. His next court date was set for Dec. 12 at 9 a.m.
