ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Downtown St. Augustine transformed into a festive wonderland as the city launched its 31st annual Nights of Lights.

The event, which officially began on Saturday, draws visitors from near and far to enjoy the illuminated streets and holiday spirit.
Former Mayor Len Weeks shared his thoughts on the event’s enduring charm.
“I’ve seen more people this year. The weather’s perfect. It’s beautiful,” Weeks said. “I think right now, people in our country are looking for something to get happy about. And I hope.”
The festivities kicked off with a countdown that culminated in the city lighting up in unison, sparking joy among attendees.

Local business owners say they are already seeing the benefits of this tradition.
“The parking lots are full, the streets, we have people going by on bicycles, it’s magical right now,” said David Spinney, co-owner of Lobstah on a Roll.
This year’s Nights of Lights promises to sustain its magic well into the new year. The display will run until January 26, giving both residents and tourists plenty of time to revel in the beauty of the historic city.
