Construction of stores, restaurants in St. Johns Town Center raises concerns about traffic congestion during holidays

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The addition of several stores and restaurants to the St. Johns Town Center is raising some concerns about traffic congestion, especially during the holiday season.

The Town Center gets busier during the holiday season, and there are signs that construction will begin soon at some stores.

Construction barriers are already up at West Elm and Louis Vuitton, just to name a few.

Hundreds of early risers went to the St. John’s Town Center for Black Friday. The traffic backup extended what should’ve been a 20-minute ride to one hour.

“The traffic was really bad, so I was just stuck out here. Figured I might as well shop,” Gracie Hartley told News4JAX.

Mayor Jewelers, Dave’s Hot Chicken, Crocs, and Oakley are a few of the stores that will undergo construction or get added to the Town Center.

There are no specific plans on how traffic will be managed in the area, but once that information is available News4JAX will provide updates.
