Capitol tree lighting ceremony held in Washington, DC

On Tuesday, The Office of the Speaker of the House hosted the annual ceremony for the lighting of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree, an 80-foot spruce selected from Zarembo Island in Alaska.

Participants include Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK); Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK); House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA); Gov. Mike Dunleavy (R-AK); Rep. Mary Peltola (D-AK); Architect of the Capitol Thomas Austin; U.S. Forest Service Chief Randy Moore; and Rose Burke, youth tree lighter and fourth-grade student from Kenai, Alaska.
