ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday released bodycam footage showing a deputy rescuing two women trapped inside a sinking car in St. Augustine.
On Nov. 30, first responders received a 911 call from two 18-year-old women requesting help after their car left the roadway and entered a body of water along Holmes Boulevard, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office also released the 911 call for help.
“Please hurry up, there’s water coming in the car,” one of the women told the dispatcher.

In the 911 call, dispatchers can be heard trying to keep the women calm while waiting for first responders to arrive.
A few minutes later, Deputy Jayde Glines arrived and jumped into action.
The bodycam footage shows Glines entering the water and helping the two women right before the car sank approximately 20 feet under the water.
According to SJSO, the women were transported to UF Health St. Johns for evaluation as a precaution.

The SJSO Dive Team helped a local wrecker service with recovering the submerged car.
Deputies said exhaustion is suspected to be a contributing cause leading up to the incident.
