Woman dead, another woman critically injured after wrong-way crash on I-95 near Pecan Park Road

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 29-year-old woman died and a 31-year-old woman is in critical condition after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 near Pecan Park Road early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Officials said at 3:48 a.m., the 29-year-old woman was traveling south in the northbound left lane on I-95.

The 31-year-old woman driving the second car was traveling north in the same lane.

Investigators said the second car struck the front left of the first car, causing it to overturn multiple times and the 29-year-old woman was ejected from her car into the middle travel lane.

Officials said a tractor-trailer was traveling north in the middle lane and hit the woman lying in the road.

FHP said the tractor-trailer was relocated to the weight station in Nassau County further north on I-95.

The 31-year-old woman is in critical condition.

The report said the woman who was ejected from her car was not wearing a seatbelt.
