JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Aviation Authority announced Monday the addition of an airline coming to the Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) in February.
On Feb. 14, Avelo Airlines will be starting a nonstop service from Jacksonville to New Haven, Connecticut, officials announced during a news conference Monday.
“The reason why it’s important is because the addition of new air service and new airlines help to drive and sustain long-term economic growth for the region, whether by businesses relocating to town or, more importantly, helping to sustain the vibrant tourism industry in Northeast Florida,” JAA Chief Operating Officer Tony Cugno said.
The Director of Network Planning at Avelo Airlines Mike Corcoran said the route will be offered twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays.
“Over 90% of our flights arrive within 15 minutes of when it’s scheduled, you’re not going to find that anywhere else, and we intend to bring that same reliable service here to Jacksonville,” Corcoran said.
Corcoran said prices are currently on sale, starting as low as $48 one way.
“Give us a try. You’ll get to where you want to go, and you’ll get there on time, which is most important and for a really inexpensive fare,” Corcoran said.
