JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man in Arlington is in critical condition after the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said he was ambushed in a shooting Wednesday afternoon outside an apartment complex.
Around 2:15 p.m., a man in his 20s was leaving an apartment at the Hammock Oak Apartments on Acme Street.

JSO said three unknown people started shooting at the man, hitting him in the neck, side and leg.
The shooters then drove off in a black SUV.
Police said there were at least 44 shell casings. The man was taken to the hospital.
JSO put out a Be-On-The-Lookout alert for the vehicle and said three individuals were detained.
It’s unclear if the man knew the shooters, but JSO said he was clearly targeted.
