The Clay County School District says the rezoning is necessary to accommodate the growth in the Lake Asbury and Oakleaf areas.
The changes, if approved, are set to go into effect at the start of the 2025-26 school year.
The project could affect the boundaries for students entering the 6th grade at the elementary schools within these junior high school zones:
Oakleaf Junior High:
- Discovery Oaks Elementary
- Oakleaf Village Elementary
- Plantation Oaks Elementary
Lake Asbury Junior High:
- Coppergate Elementary
- Doctors Inlet Elementary
- Lake Asbury Elementary
- Middleburg Elementary
- Rideout Elementary
- Shadowlawn Elementary
Wilkinson Junior High:
- Tynes Elementary
The rezoning may also affect the attendance boundaries or school assignments for some 7th and 8th graders at Wilkinson and Lakeside Junior High School.
