JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An intense police chase in Murray Hill ended with a crash, a foot pursuit, and the eventual capture of a suspect.
The chase involved a dark-colored BMW SUV, which overturned on Roosevelt Boulevard.
The overturned vehicle was located behind homes along Hamilton Street, where neighbors say a man started running, crossing railroad tracks and wooded areas before officers caught him.
Neighbor Johnella Kester described the chaotic scene, noting that police vehicles even crossed through her yard during the pursuit.
“I’m still shaking. I was scared,” she said.
Another neighbor, Jerri Ware, saw the intensity of the search.
“There were multiple vehicles with lights on all around the corner and down the street,” Ware said. She added that the man eventually surrendered without resistance after being surrounded by officers.
While the circumstances leading up to the chase remain unclear, neighbors believe it began nearby on Cassat Avenue. Employees at an auto parts store at the corner of Cassat and Kingsbury streets reported seeing someone exit the car and flee on foot before police arrived.
Police have not confirmed whether the BMW was stolen or if there was a second suspect involved.
A photograph taken after the man’s arrest shows him being placed into an ambulance, but the nature of his injuries is unknown.
Authorities did not release further details about the incident, including whether the captured suspect was armed.
