FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A man was arrested after pulling a gun on a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputy on Jan. 4.

Officials said minutes before midnight, a deputy was patrolling the W-Section of Palm Coast when he saw a 38-year-old man on the sidewalk along Pine Lakes Parkway standing next to a bike on the ground.

FCSO said the deputy tried to contact the man, but he picked up the bike and rode away.

The deputy then tried to stop the man. He appeared to comply and slowed down enough for the deputy to exit his car, but he quickly pedaled away and turned onto Westminster Drive.

Police said the deputy got back into his car and caught up with the man and he saw home pulling a gun out of his pants.

The deputy struck the man with his car in fear of the man using the gun, causing him to drop it.

The man was arrested without further incident and a 9mm Ruger was found near the man. He was also wearing a holster.

FCSO said the man was charged with assault or battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Officials said the man has an arrest history in Flagler County since 2013 and at the time of the arrest, he had been released from jail on Dec. 17, 2024, after serving a 90-day sentence for possession of fentanyl.
