JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville is gearing up to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day—happening on Jan. 20, 2025—with a variety of events and service opportunities throughout the week and weekend.

Communities across the nation plan on celebrating with acts of service, prayer and parades.

Events taking place around Northeast Florida

38th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast | Jan. 17 from 7-8 a.m.

The City of Jacksonville and its partners are hosting the 38th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast on Jan. 17 at 7 a.m. at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center. 44th annual MLK Holiday Grand Parade | POSTPONED

The 44th annual MLK Holiday Grand Parade has been postponed, according to a city spokesperson. A new date and time is TBD.

Here’s what you need to know for Jacksonville’s MLK Parade

The Beaches Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration | Saturday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m.

According to Atlantic Beach Florida, the Beaches’ 2025 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at St. Paul by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, 465 11th Ave. N. The annual event is presented by Rhoda Martin Cultural Heritage Center, 465 11th Ave. N., Jacksonville Beach. The guest speaker is Bishop Rudolph W. City of Green Cove Springs MLK Jr. Day Ceremony | Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m.

“The City of Green Cove Springs, in collaboration with the First African Baptist Church, cordially invites you to a special ceremony honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Join us for an inspiring event featuring Keynote Speaker, Pastor Adrian M. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Breakfast | Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025 | 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

This event is sold out. The Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration Committee of St. Johns County will host St. Augustine’s 40th Annual Commemorative Event on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, to celebrate the memory of Dr. King and his great influence in the passage of the Civil Rights Act in 1964. The breakfast takes place at Renaissance St. Augustine Historic Downtown Hotel at 6 West Castillo Drive.

Silent March and Program | Monday, Jan. 20 at 9 a.m.

Timucuan Parks Foundation‘s MLK Day of Service | Jan. 20 | 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Timucuan Parks Foundation is calling for volunteers to help clean up Blue Cypress Park (4012 University Blvd. N.) in Arlington on Monday, Jan. 20, with work beginning at 9 a.m. Click here to volunteer and for more information.

MLK Day of Service Community Cleanup in St. Augustine | Jan. 20 | 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The student-led West Augustine Nature Society has teamed up with the historic West Augustine Improvement Association to host a family-friendly event that focuses on service, volunteerism, and coming together in the spirit of Dr. King.

The event begins with breakfast and sign in at 8 a.m., followed by a community and cemetery cleanup.

MLK Day Celebration at Cummer Museum | Jan. 20 | 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens invites the community to gather in celebration of the impactful life, work and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a day of free admission, creativity and dynamic programming.
