Former Clay County elected official arrested in sex sting operation, accused of attempting to meet with teenage boy

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – A member of the Clay County Soil and Water Conservation District, Harrison “Ted” Clark, 30, has been arrested following allegations of attempting to meet with a teenage boy.

The arrest occurred during a sex sting operation conducted by the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.

According to court documents, Clark did not deny the accusations upon his arrest, attributing his actions to an “addiction to pornography” and a “preference for children.”

The police report indicates that Clark was messaging what he thought was a 14-year-old boy on a website called Sniffies. Court documents state Clark was fully aware of the teen’s age and acknowledged it multiple times.

Investigators have disclosed some of the exchanges between Clark and the teenager, which included messages such as, “So your parents won’t be home, that’s crazy,” and “Hopefully not too old for ya,” along with other sexually explicit content.

Clark had arranged to meet the teen at a specific location, where he was arrested.

In response to the arrest, the Clay Soil and Water Conservation District issued a statement expressing their deep concern over the incident.

“The Clay Soil and Water Conservation District is deeply troubled to learn that our former chair, Harrison ‘Ted’ Clark, was recently arrested as part of a sting operation in Nassau County.

The district was blindsided by this information several hours after former Supervisor Clark had emailed his notice of resignation Friday afternoon. Former Supervisor Clark’s actions in no way reflect the code of ethics by which the district operates. We stand ready to assist with any investigational efforts that may be needed of our district.”

Additionally, it has been revealed that Clark’s mother is a member of the Clay County School Board.

Clark’s bond was set at $90,000.
