Additional candidates have qualified for the general election and will appear on the April ballot along with the winners of the primaries.
Any voter in the district who was registered as a Republican or Democrat by Dec. 30, when registration closed for the primary, can vote at their assigned precinct.
At the same time, a primary is being held in a portion of the Florida Panhandle to replace Rep. Matt Gaetz, who represented District 1. Gaetz had initially submitted his resignation from Congress when he was nominated to be attorney general in the Trump administration. After withdrawing his name from consideration from the post, due to growing scrutiny, he said he would not return to Congress.
In District 1, only a Republican primary is being held Tuesday, as only one Democrat qualified for the special election.
President Trump has endorsed candidates in both Republican primaries. In District 6, he endorsed Randy Fine, a state senator. In District 1, he endorsed Jimmy Patronis, currently the state’s chief financial officer.
