Duval County elementary teacher accused of battering pregnant woman, abusing juvenile reassigned to different duties

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An investigation into a 59-year-old elementary school teacher began last summer after the woman was accused of forcing her way into a Jacksonville apartment to retrieve items that she said belonged to her adult son, according to an arrest warrant.

Malinda Aderhold taught first grade at Dinsmore Elementary School but was reassigned from her teaching duties following her felony arrest.

The warrant alleged that Aderhold battered a 37-week pregnant woman inside the apartment. The warrant also alleged Aderhold assaulted a juvenile inside the apartment.

Aderhold left when another person identified as a witness inside the apartment called 911 for help, the warrant said.

Police said the pregnant victim and the witness later identified Aderhold as the suspect through a photo lineup.

On Sunday, Aderhold was arrested at a relative’s home in Nassau County on four felony warrants out of Duval County.

Once the Duval County School Board got wind of the details in the arrest warrant, school officials issued the following statement:

We can confirm that this individual has been reassigned to duties without student contact.”

Police said Aderhold’s son had not lived at the apartment for nearly a year after he ended his lease and moved out.

According to the warrant, her son abandoned his belongings and skipped out on paying his share of the rent.

Aderhold faces two counts of robbery involving assault and battery, one count of battery on a pregnant woman, and one count of child abuse.

Aderhold posted a $40,000 bond to get out of jail.
