JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The body of a woman was found covered in a blanket in the backyard of a home on West 16th Street near Durkeeville Monday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

According to police, the woman was found around 8:30 a.m. by one of her friends since she had been unable to reach her through the phone.

According to JSO, the investigation revealed around 8 p.m. Sunday, someone said they heard someone screaming “He’s going to kill me!” Another witness told police that they heard multiple shots fired.

Police said they were not called Sunday night for either incident.

Despite the witnesses’ accounts, officers said they haven’t been able to verify through the ShotSpotter if gunfire was involved in the woman’s death.

The woman has not been identified.

Police said they’ve detained one person who was inside the house.
