ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Big changes are on the horizon for the Northeast Florida Regional Airport in St. Augustine. The airport is gearing up for a transformation that promises to make flying in and out of the region smoother and more efficient than ever.
The St. Johns County Airport Authority has just approved a development plan that’s set to shake things up. The airport will be moving roads, adding state-of-the-art facilities, and making room for bigger, more modern aircraft. It’s all part of a plan to meet the growing demand for air travel in the area.

One of the first things on the agenda is relocating Hawkeye View Lane. With the support of the Florida Department of Transportation, construction could kick off as soon as late 2025.
But that’s not all. The airport is also planning to roll out a comprehensive utility loop. This will support everything from fire safety to digital connectivity, ensuring the airport is ready for whatever the future holds.
The development plan is being rolled out in phases, with new hangars, a full-service Fixed Base Operator (FBO) with fuel sales, and plans for a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility.
“With the demand for modern aeronautical facilities at an all-time high, our East Area development will solidify our position as a premier hub for general aviation in the region,” Courtney Pittman, Interim Executive Director said.
The airport authority says it is also addressing environmental concerns by making sure the expansion is as green as possible.
Construction is expected to start in 2025.
