ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded to a multi-vehicle crash on South Ponte Vedra Boulevard and found a vehicle that crashed into a building, trapping residents inside early Friday morning.
Officials said crews quickly rescued the occupants from the home.

Stephen Willard lived in the home for 50 years and he woke up to quite the scene.
“I was kind of falling asleep at the TV set in the back corner, and boom,” he said.
Willard described the condition of his home.
“When I first saw the guy as I came to the door, I was going to go downstairs to see what the hell happened, and he was standing right here and talking to me,” he said.
It didn’t take Willard long to see how bad the damage is.
“That’s when I discovered I had no stairs anymore,” he said.

Willard remained in good spirits despite the damage. He said he had to cancel the psychology classes that he teaches.
“Our cat was watching, the cat’s okay, very entertained,” he added.
The incident left the home in disarray, but the family is grateful that no one was injured.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
