JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have released veteran wide receiver Christian Kirk after he spent the last three seasons with the team, according to NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Kirk, who was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 2018, signed a four-year, $72 million contract with the Jaguars in March 2022. That year, he posted career-high numbers with 84 catches, 1,108 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns.
However, the next two seasons would be significantly impacted by injuries. In 2023, a core muscle injury forced him to miss the last five games of the season, and this past year, a broken collarbone suffered in Week 8 caused him to miss the rest of the season.
The Jags are in the midst of a full organizational overhaul after parting ways with Doug Pederson and Trent Baalke earlier this year, replacing them with Liam Coen and James Gladstone.
Kirk’s release leaves a hole at the wide receiver position for the Jags, which is something the team could be targeting in the upcoming NFL Draft.
According to Schefter, the move will save the team over $10.4 million against the cap.
The current wideouts on the roster include standout Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, Gabe Davis, Josh Reynolds, Devin Duvernay, Joshua Cephus, David White Jr., and Louis Rees-Zammit.
