JSO said Kimberly Statum was arrested in November 2024 for attempted murder after officers found Lee Payne with “severe burns” inside a home on Alexandria Drive.
Payne was taken to a Gainesville burn unit for treatment, but died from his injuries in December.
“After presenting the evidence and facts of the investigation to our partners at the State Attorney’s Office, officers arrested Statum for Murder and Arson,” JSO said. “We will continue to work with the State Attorney’s Office on this case to bring justice to Payne’s loved ones.”
