JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – JEA temporarily closed the northbound I-295 off-ramp at San Jose Boulevard Wednesday after a water main was damaged by a third-party contractor, which led to a disruption in water service for some customers in the area.

On Wednesday night, the utility company said crews had repaired the water main break and the off-ramp reopened 3:30 a.m.

There is some asphalt restoration that crews will address on Thursday morning, which will cause another temporary closure of the off-ramp after 9 a.m. to complete that work. JEA anticipates that will take roughly four hours.

Traffic was detoured around the work zone until repairs were completed, adding that it expected the roadway to be closed until around 8 p.m. on Wednesday; however, in an update around 4 p.m., the utility said that during the water main repair, crews needed to remove part of the roadway in order to complete the work, which extended the repair and restoration time.

JEA also asked drivers to follow all posted construction signs, detours, and directions provided by on-site crews.

“We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding during this work,” JEA said.
