Voters in parts of Northeast Florida will have about a week to cast an early, in-person ballot in the special election to fill the U.S. House seat vacated by Michael Waltz. Waltz resigned from Congress on Jan. 20 to become President Trump’s national security advisor, leaving a vacancy in District 6, which includes all of Flagler and Putnam counties, as well as parts of St. Johns, Lake, Marion, and Volusia counties.

On Nov. 25, after Waltz was named to the post, Gov. Ron DeSantis set a special election for the seat for April 1. He also set the date of the primaries that were held on Jan. 28. State. Sen. Randy Fine won the Republican primary, and Josh Weil won the Democratic primary.
