PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – Agricultural resource deputies with Putnam, Flagler and St. Johns counties’ sheriff’s offices expanded their jurisdiction across county lines to tackle crime.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly and Putnam County Sheriff H.D. DeLoach swore the deputies in at God’s Country Outfitters in San Mateo.

“While we know criminals do not adhere to jurisdictional lines, our deputies faced these constraints and so did our farmers," PCSO said.

Now, the deputies can take on an investigation into crimes committed in agricultural areas even if they cross a county line.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said farmers, logging trucks and other agricultural resource businesses can work with one deputy and not be transferred to other areas as well.

“This allows all three agencies to respond quickly and manage recourses efficiently,” according to the PCSO.

DeLoach swore in Flagler Deputy Steve Williams. Staly swore in Putnam County Deputy Matt Westbury and SJC Deputy Jerry Gentry.
