Jacksonville man dies after being crushed between bulldozer, dump truck in Clay County

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A Jacksonville man died Tuesday morning after being crushed between a bulldozer and a dump truck in Clay County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. at an active work site on Trefoil Trail near Lazy Acres Road.

According to the FHP incident report, a 45-year-old man parked and exited the dump truck he was driving after finishing processing his load of material.

As the man stood near the rear of the dump truck, the operator of a bulldozer, a 44-year-old woman from Middleburg, did not see him and backed up in the direction of the dump truck, troopers said.

The man died at the scene after being crushed between the two vehicles, according to FHP.

The crash investigation is still ongoing.
