Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute closing 7 locations, laying off more than 100 employees

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute is closing seven of its locations and laying off more than 100 employees, according to a letter sent to officials under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.

  • Atlantic Rehabilitation Office on Atlantic Boulevard
  • Fleming Island Rehabilitation Office on Baptist Clay Drive
  • North Rehabilitation Office on North Main Street
  • Point Meadows Rehabilitation Office on Point Meadows Drive
  • South Physician’s Office on Old St. Augustine Road
  • South Rehabilitation Office on Old St. Augustine Road
  • World Golf Village Rehabilitation Office on Murabella Parkway

The closures are slated to happen between May 30 and June 13 and are expected to be permanent.

In addition to the employees affected by the closure of the seven facilities, “certain employees” are facing permanent layoffs at other JOI locations.

  • San Marco Rehabilitation Office on San Marco Boulevard
  • Mandarin Rehabilitation Office on San Jose Boulevard
  • Nocatee Rehabilitation Office on Fort Wade Road

The letter said those employees have already been notified and that the layoffs will happen in two waves, the first form May 30-June 13 and the second from June 30-July 14.

In past seasons, the Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute had been the Jacksonville Jaguars’ official orthopedic caregiver through its agreement with Baptist Health.

For the 2025-26 season, UF Health Jacksonville will take over that role.
