JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A firefighter was transported to the hospital after fighting a mobile home fire in the Jacksonville North Estates neighborhood Tuesday morning, according to Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department Captain Eric Prosswimmer.

JFRD crews responded to a mobile home fire on Duval Lake Road East near Cole Road around 8:45 a.m.

When crews arrived, heavy smoke and fire could be seen coming from the building. Due to wind and added structures to the building, it was difficult for crews to contain the fire.

JFRD said the fire is suspected to have begun in the back of the building and spread throughout.

No one was home during the fire.

One firefighter was transported to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

It is unclear what led to the fire. The Florida Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations is conducting an investigation.
