Suspect arrested after trying to attack 2 people with a machete in Lake City

LAKE CITY, Fla. – Lake City Police said a suspect was arrested after attempting to attack two victims with a machete on Monday.

Officials said on Monday at 2:40 p.m., two victims were attempting to remove personal items from the area when a male suspect tried to attack one of the victims with a machete.

A second male suspect tried to attack the same victim with a knife. The victims fled the area and contacted police who were located at a Five Below store on Northwest Hutton Drive.

The initial scene was cleared and one of the suspects followed and threatened the victims again near the Lake City Mall.

Officers arrested him in a nearby parking lot for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Charges for the other suspect were forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office for review.

No one was injured.
