BRUNSWICK, Fla. – The Glynn County Police Department arrested a man accused of firing a shotgun in the direction of four people, including two children, on Friday night.

Officials said the shooting happened near the area of Mulligans and the Royal Inn Hotel at around 9:43 p.m. when police responded to the scene.

An adult woman was suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen/hip area.

The woman was transported to a Brunswick area hospital then she was airlifted to a Jacksonville hospital in stable condition.

Detectives said the suspect, Brandon Betts, 32, fired multiple shots from a shotgun in the direction of the woman, her two children, ages 9 and 7, and an additional adult male.

Police took Betts into custody without further incident and charged with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm during the attempt to commit a crime. Officials said additional charges may be coming.
